Reincarnation

I dreamed my parents and I vacationed in an old civilization, among the few who called it home. They were superstitious, about demons and stuff. When we arrived, they were convinced I was their queen reincarnated.
We got nothing out of arguing, and we were stuck here anyway, so we stuck around to see what this was about.
Their temples were filled with delinquents and thieves. It wasn't safe for anyone to enter anymore.
As their royalty were seen as near-gods, they believed I had the power to drive out the intruders and cleanse the temple again.
It turned out I did have something they were talking about.
I didn't know exactly how I did it, but just my presence was enough to drive out the intruders.
I explored the temples with a group, checking every corner.
When it came time to leave, I felt something in me wanting to stay.
They had to go, and so they left me there.
I went into a sort of comatose state for many years. I didn't age, or need food or water while in that state.
When I woke, descendants of some of my people knew me, and escorted me around. Their kind had become fewer and fewer. Areas nearby had been developed, and as such, their home was no longer solitary. I reminisced as we reached a temple. I went to enter, but a wall blocked my path. My escort informed me that It had been filled in. Extremely perturbed, I asked who.
Apparently, developers had passed through, deeming this structure unsafe for occupation, so they simply closed it. Another temple they had converted into a hotel, and another, a gift shop. They were turning this land into a park.
But I was unable to stop them. My powers as this reincarnated queen were basically limited to my people, as they completely relied on faith. If they followed me, I had power over them. If not, well, we were all just out of luck. The delinquents and thieves had been the unjust of my people, and so they believed in me as their queen reincarnated. Thusly, they were subject to my strength and were driven out. I couldn't fix the temple, though, because these were foreign developers, who couldn't care less about any near-god queens or anything like that.
So I stayed close to my people, riding out the storm that would wash our kind away for the rest of time.
